Port Huron Area Summer Events

Enjoy the summer along the water in the Port Huron area.

fireworks Kick off the summer fun by attending the old fashioned A & W Classic Car Show on June 25th in Lexington. The old A & W still has carhops serving meals and classic cars are on display. You'll feel like you are back in the fifties for a day. Enjoy the quaint shopping in the downtown area while in Lexington, known for its unique shops and art fairs. On July 8-9 enjoy the Port Huron Open Cruise & Car Show in Port Huron. Bring your special ride and participate, or pull up a chair and enjoy the classic cars as they cruise by. There is also the Vintage Weekend in St Clair running July 16 - 17. The event includes the St. Clair Antique and Classic Boat Show and the St. Clair Antique Show in one weekend. If you like antiques, this is one weekend you won't want to miss.

Boat Night

The highlight of the summer in Port Huron is the annual Port Huron to Macinac sailboat race. This year the Bayview Mackinac Race takes place on July 23rd. Enjoy Boat Night on July 22nd by strolling down the water looking at the sailboats and meeting the crews. Also on the night of the 22nd is the parade of lights, when boats shimmer down the water at night making a beautiful scene.

On the weekend of the race is the annual Port Huron Fest running July 21-23. Carnival fun and other scheduled events like cardboard boat races make the festival an event to enjoy year after year. Combined with the spectacle of the race, this weekend is a great time to visit, and to make things even better the Black River Pow Wow is taking place in Wadhams Valley just a few miles away. Set along the river in an expansive park, the pow wow brings a unique flavor the festivities. Enjoy Native American dancing and crafts down in the valley.

Only In The Port Huron area

Many events take place during the summer that are unique to the Port Huron area. From county fairs to Shakespeare performances there are many fun discoveries to be found. The St. Clair County 4-H Fair takes place at the Goodells County Park July 25 - 30. Events take place every night, from rodeo to motocross, and tractor pulls to the demolition derby. Come out and see the animals and enjoy the shows. Also on the weekend of the July 29 - 30 you can experience the excitement of the St. Clair River Classic Offshore Powerboat Race. Taking place in the St Clair River in St Clair, you watch the races from the riverfront area.

The St Clair Riverview Plaza hosts the annual "Will on the Water" Shakespeare Festival on 8/13 - 14. Enjoy Shakespeare's era along the water in a setting that can only found in the Port Huron area. Performers recreate the feel and stage that Shakespeare used with performances from sword fighting to strolling players in costumes from the era. Have fun with Shakespeare!

Outdoors

We can't talk about summer fun without mentioning the boating. Take an evening cruise along the river in the Huron Lady II, for an enjoyable relaxing evening that gives a unique view of the river area. It's cooler on the water, and refreshments are served along the way. Boat rentals are available throughout the area if you prefer to take a relaxing ride on the lake or do some fishing. The water is always a central part of what's going in the Port Huron area. Make sure to leave some time for just floating on the water or laying on the beach.

There are plenty of beautiful courses to golf nearby. Marysville has a public golf course along the river, run by the city, with 18 holes of challenging golf. In Wadhams you will Fore Lakes a challenging golf experience. Named for the water hazards, this course will be a memorable one. The Lexington Golf Club is another close course that is along Lake Huron in Lexington. Come for the water, but try to get a round in on one of the courses in the area. You'll remember it for years to come.
